Music royalties are payments made to rights holders whenever a song is played, streamed, broadcast, or used commercially.
Each time you hear a song — whether it’s on Spotify, in a shop, on TV, or during a live concert — someone is paying for the right to use that music. Those payments are collected and distributed by specialised distributors as royalties to the people who own the rights to the song: artists, songwriters, producers, labels, or publishers.
When you buy shares in a music catalogue on ANote Music, you’re entitled to receive a portion of the royalties that catalogue generates — based on how many shares you hold.
This process is referred to as a royalties payout, usually happening on a monthly, quarterly, or semi-annual basis, depending on the catalogue.

1. The “10%+ average historical return” refers to the gross average IRR of 11.77% achieved by investors on the ANote Music platform from 31 August 2020 to 31 March 2025. This figure is based on a weighted average across all catalogues, includes both royalty income and price performance, and assumes full reinvestment of royalties into all available catalogues at the time of each distribution. Returns are calculated gross of royalty distribution fees. Past performance is not indicative of future results. These returns are historical, not guaranteed, and may not be representative of future platform activity. All figures are based on internal analysis and are provided for informational purposes only.
2. The 40/60 Benchmark reflects a traditional balanced portfolio composed of 60% Euro-denominated global equity index and 40% Euro-denominated investment-grade bonds. It is used as a comparative reference for evaluating the risk-return profile of music royalty investments. It is calculated using monthly total return data, weighted 60% in a broad global stock index (MSCI World Net EUR Index) and 40% in a Euro Aggregate Bond index (proxied via a representative ETF). The portfolio is rebalanced monthly, and all dividends and interest payments are assumed to be reinvested.
